Trello is a free online organizational tool that lets you create boards, lists, and cards. You can use it to organize your entire witchcraft practice, from the spells you want to cast to your daily astrological observations and personal journal entries.
But we’re going to do something a little different with it.
Instead of creating one enormous list of things to do, we’re going to organize your witchcraft by day. Each day gets its own list, complete with that day’s astrological information, numerology, seasonal energy, and energetic forecast. From there, you can choose spells that correspond with the day’s energy, record your experiences, and build a personal record of your witchcraft over time.
And you won’t have to calculate all that daily astrological information yourself. The Spellbook Studio’s Witches’ Weather provides the daily details, ready for you to copy straight into your planner.
Let’s set it up!
Start by creating a Trello account at Trello.com.
Create a new board for the current month. Give it a name like October 2026 — My Witchcraft Planner & Journal.
Each monthly board will hold your daily witchcraft lists, so you can easily see what you’ve planned, what you’ve worked on, and what you’ve recorded throughout the month.
At the beginning of a new month, create a new board. When the year is over, you’ll have a collection of monthly boards documenting your witchcraft throughout the year.
A note about Trello’s free plan: Trello’s free-plan Workspace limits can affect how many boards you can maintain. Check the current limits before setting up a full year’s worth. If you need to stay within a board limit, you can keep a rolling collection of recent months and export or otherwise preserve older records before removing boards. If you have access to a plan with sufficient board capacity, you can retain your monthly boards for the full year.
This is the foundation of the entire system.
Instead of putting every daily activity into one long list, create a separate Trello list for each day of the month.
For example, your October board might contain lists named:
Continue until you’ve created a list for every day of the month.
Within each list, you’ll keep that day’s Witches’ Weather, the spells you want to work with, and any journal entries you make.
This organization makes it easy to look back at a particular day and see the information that influenced your decisions, the spells you explored, and what happened afterward.
Tip: Create your daily lists in chronological order, with the first day of the month on the left. Trello boards can become quite wide, so you may need to scroll horizontally as the month progresses.
The first card in each daily list should always be titled Witches’ Weather.
This is the reference point for your witchcraft that day. It contains the astrological, numerological, and seasonal information you’ll use to explore the day’s energy.
Each Witches’ Weather card should contain the following details:
Daily details
You don’t need to work all of this out yourself.
The Spellbook Studio provides Witches’ Weather daily, with the information organized and ready for you to copy into your Trello card. You can use it as your starting point each morning, then decide how you want to engage with your craft.
Rather than searching for all the information yourself, sign up to have Witches’ Weather emailed to you daily.
When your email arrives, open the Witches’ Weather card for the corresponding date in Trello and copy the information into its description. Now you have that day’s astrological and energetic reference saved alongside your plans and journal entries.
This is particularly useful because your Trello board becomes a historical record. At the end of the month, you can revisit previous days and see what the forecast said, what you chose to explore, and what you recorded about your experience.
Your daily reference information and your personal observations stay together. You can sign up for Daily Witches’ Weather completely free right here.
Now we’re getting to the fun part.
Some spells are things you want to try eventually. Others are things you want to revisit, adapt, or experiment with under different conditions.
Rather than trying to decide what to cast from scratch every morning, create a separate Trello list called Spells I Want to Cast.
This is your running master list.
Create one card for each spell you want to explore. You can include your own spells, spells you’ve discovered through research, or ideas you want to develop further.
Give each card a descriptive title so you can find it easily. Inside the card, you might record the intention, ingredients, preparation, correspondences, or any other information you want to have available when you’re ready to cast.
Don’t worry about deciding when to cast each spell just yet. The point of this list is to collect the possibilities in one place.
As you add to your collection, you’ll have a growing library of spells to draw from whenever you’re ready to work with a particular intention.
Every day begins with a different combination of astrological influences, numerological energies, and seasonal context.
Once you’ve copied that day’s Witches’ Weather into Trello, read through the forecast and consider which spells from your master list you’d like to explore.
Perhaps you’re interested in a spell for abundance, and today’s forecast inspires you to work with that intention. Perhaps you have a protection spell you’ve been wanting to try, and the day’s energy feels appropriate for it. Or perhaps nothing on your list particularly appeals to you today, and you’d rather wait.
That’s entirely up to you.
When you find a spell you want to work with, move its card from your master list into that day’s Trello list, underneath the Witches’ Weather card.
You can move multiple spells into the same daily list if you want to explore more than one.
The important distinction is that you’re not creating a rigid schedule that dictates what you must do. You’re using the daily information to help you decide what you’d like to explore.
Over time, this can become a lovely way to experiment with your craft, noticing which approaches you enjoy and how you choose to work with different energies.
Here’s where the planner becomes a journal.
Once you’ve moved a spell into a daily list, the card becomes the place where you document your experience.
You don’t need to create a separate journal entry elsewhere. Simply open the spell card and add your notes to it.
Before casting, you might record why you chose the spell and what you hoped to explore. After casting, return to the same card and document what happened.
You can use the card’s description, comments, checklists, or attachments to organize your notes. For longer entries, Trello’s description field may be sufficient, or you can attach a document if you prefer writing at greater length.
Your notes might include:
You can also record follow-up observations days or weeks later. A spell doesn’t necessarily have a clear outcome immediately, and you may want to return to the card as your experience develops.
Because the spell card lives within that day’s list, the Witches’ Weather that informed your decision is right there above it.
You can look at the astrological and numerological information, revisit the original forecast, and compare it with your own notes.
The goal isn’t to prove that every astrological influence produces a particular result. It’s to create a record of your experiences so you can learn from them and develop your own understanding of your craft.
As you work through your spells, your master list will naturally change.
When you’ve finished experimenting with a spell, decide what you’d like to do with its original card.
You might leave the original on your master list if you want to try it again under different conditions. You might mark it as completed, or move it into a separate list of spells you’ve already explored.
The daily copy of the card can remain in the relevant day’s list, complete with your journal entries.
This way, you retain a record of each experience without losing the original spell from your collection.
You can also create separate master lists for other activities, such as divination techniques you want to try, tarot spreads you want to explore, or witchcraft subjects you’d like to research.
The same principle applies: keep a running collection of ideas, then move the ones you want to explore into the relevant day’s list.
At the end of the month, take some time to look back through your daily lists.
You can revisit your Witches’ Weather cards, see which spells you chose to explore, and read the journal entries you added along the way.
You might notice that certain intentions kept coming up, that you particularly enjoyed experimenting with a specific kind of spell, or that you want to revisit something you tried earlier in the month.
You don’t need to draw a grand conclusion from every experience. Sometimes the value is simply having your notes available when you want to remember what you did.
When the new month begins, create a fresh board, make a list for each day, and add a Witches’ Weather card to the top of every list.
Your master spell list can continue to grow independently of your monthly boards, giving you an ongoing collection of ideas to draw from.
Your journal entries are worth preserving, so decide on an archiving approach that fits your Trello plan and the amount of history you want to retain.
If you’re working with a limited number of available boards, you can maintain a rolling collection of recent monthly boards and preserve older records through exports or another suitable backup method. If you want every month’s board immediately accessible, check whether your current plan supports the number of boards you need.
Whatever arrangement you choose, make sure you preserve your personal spell notes and journal entries before deleting or removing older boards.
Once your Trello board is set up, the daily process is simple.
Start with Witches’ Weather. Read the day’s information. Choose the spells you want to explore. Move those cards into the daily list, then record your experiences as you go.
The next day, do it again.
Your planner doesn’t need to tell you what kind of witch to be or prescribe what you must do. It simply gives you a practical way to bring your interests, your ideas, and your experiences together in one place.
And with The Spellbook Studio’s daily Witches’ Weather delivered straight to your inbox, you have a ready-made starting point for each new day.
Your craft, organized your way. One day, one spell, and one experience at a time.
